Tourism and activities
In the immediate area most of the local towns have beautiful churches and museums. San Severino and Matelica are favourites and very nearby (20 mins).
Assisi, Perugia, Gubbio, Ascoli Piceno, Macerata and San Ginesio are all about an hour from the house. There are markets for food, clothes and antiques on most days of the week in nearby towns; we will leave details of where and when in the house.
Half an hour away are the caves of Frasassi — 25km of caves filled with amazing rock formations, stalactites and stalagmites — some of the best in Europe.
There is an opera festival in Macerata in August ,
a Jazz festival in Perugia and a Blues festival in San Severino and a music festival in Camerino, as well as a large swimming pool there is outdoor table tennis, a badminton set and a good selection of other games at the house. The sea is about an hour away with great beaches and plenty of restaurants.
The university sports centre is less than five minutes from the house and has a volleyball pitch together with clay and hard tennis courts for hire.
