The House & Garden

Casa Beri is a large farmhouse in le Marche, a beautiful area of central Italy just east of Umbria. The house is perched at the foot of Monte Primo and faces the beautiful mediaeval town of Camerino across a small unspoilt valley. The house was restored ten years ago by the interior designer Rachel Hamel Cooke and her husband the artist Francis Hamel.

Case Beri has five double bedrooms (three double, two twin) and two bathrooms upstairs. Downstairs there is a spacious kitchen with adjoining laundry/utility, a bathroom/loo and a massive drawing/dining room with a smaller adjoining sitting room/library.

There is a large (15m) salt water swimming pool and a number of terraces around the house for sun-bathing, shade and eating outside.

The house sits in about twelve acres.  There is a small kitchen garden below the house, otherwise it is surrounded by a mixture of mature oak, walnut and poplar and an orchard of fruit trees, apricots, peaches, greengages, almonds and persimmon. There are over a hundred olive trees around the house and in a large grove in the field above the house.
